As the soybeans approach the R-2 and R-3 stages, and spraying for aphids commence, look at the problem spots in the field. Prairie Lakes Coop has access to July infrareds, which can show damage due to insects, SCN or varietal problems. Many questions have been asked about the potential for using this technology to scout fields and develop the 2010 plans for managing those issues. Those images can also help determine if problems need to be accounted for or can be handled in season. The images can also be printed to act as a virtual yield map, which can help determine the best conditions for your crop.
